A eucharistic minister is a practicing Catholic lay person who assists the priest in administering the sacraments of holy communion, the consecrated bread and wine. Our eucharistic ministers serve at the Mass they attend and sign up in the sacristy before Mass. Eucharistic ministers go through a simple training session before serving.
What is a Lector?
A lector is a practicing Catholic lay person who in a particular liturgy is assigned to read a Biblical text other than the Gospel. Our lectors serve at whatever Mass they attend. Each Mass has a schedule, which is found in the sacristy. If interested, please contact Sister Marie.
What is an Altar Server?
An alter server is a boy or girl who assists the celebrant during Mass. Our altar server serve at the Mass their family attends. Contact Father Larussa if you are interested in serving.
What does an Usher do?
An usher helps seat people and collect the offering during the Mass. If you are interested in serving at your usual Mass, please speak to one of the ushers at that Mass.
What do the Gift Bearers do?
The Gift Bearers, chosen by Sister Marie at each Mass, bring the gifts to the Altar. If you are interested in serving in this capacity, please let Sister Marie know. It is particularly nice on special occasions such as birthdays or anniversaries.
I'm interested in Music. How can I help?
Music is an important part of every Mass. St. Augustine once said "He who sings, prays twice.” Our voices are gifts, to bring praise to the Lord.
We have two music ministries: the Modern Music Group, which sings at the 11 am Mass on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month, and the Cantors, who lead the singing while accompanied by the organist or pianist. If you are interested in the Modern Music Group, please contact Sharon Kreuz at 614-325-6752. If you are interested in serving as a Cantor, please contact Joel Ensign at 614-886-1878.
Additionally, the Funeral Choir is a group of singers that serve for funerals, to make them more prayerful. If you would like to serve, please contact Mary Kay Mulligan at 614-267-9142.
